The Evangelical Presbyterian Church General Assembly provides a special opportunity to pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit for advancing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
This General Assembly is taking place June 18-21, 2019 in Englewood, Colorado. Andrew Brunson and Richard White will have three hours to present on Wednesday morning. Would you join us in praying for the Lord to move powerfully during this time?
Andrew Brunson and Richard White are scheduled to present on Wednesday, June 19, from 9-Noon, Mountain Time (11:00- 2:00 EST).
Prayer Points
- Pray that Jesus Christ will be exalted as the General Assembly hears the story of Andrew’s deliverance from prison.
- Pray that the assembly will see and be encouraged with how God responded to their
labor of prayer. - Pray that the assembly will be motivated to stand true to Jesus regardless of what comes our way in our society/culture.
- Pray that the assembly will be moved to continued prayer for the advancement of the gospel in the Muslim world.
- Pray that this presentation at the General Assembly would be a catalytic event for the entire Evangelical Presbyterian Church denomination.
- Pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the assembly to empower them to follow Jesus Christ and be effective witnesses to Jesus Christ worldwide.
- Pray for a special outpouring for the Church as they seek to continue to witness within Turkey and the Muslim world.
PRMI and the EPC
PRMI has always had a special relationship with the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC). First, members of the Presbyterian Charismatic Communion (Now PRMI) and a number of large Charismatic Presbyterian congregations, had a significant role in the founding of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in 1981. From the founding to the present, the EPC has remained faithful to Biblical Reformed Christian doctrine,
Secondly, over years as the leadership of the PC(USA) drifted more and more into apostasy by abandoning our biblical faith in Jesus Christ, as the way, the truth, and the life, and the only way to God the Father, and also rejected the empowering work of the Holy Spirit for witnessing to Jesus, many in PRMI have been called to stay as a prophetic witness. Others have been called out to either the ECO: A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians or to the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
PRMI and Andrew Brunson
Andrew and Norine Brunson are missionaries who are associated with the EPC congregation Christ Community Church in Montreat NC. (This is the congregation that I have attended for decades. The pastor is Richard White.)
What a lot of people do not know is that the Lord worked through Andrew and Norine in an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Turkey in the manner described in Hebrews 2:4 “…while God confirmed their witness with signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.”
I had known of Andrew for years through his parents who are members of Christ Community Church, but it was when this movement of the Holy Spirit started to come under demonic attack that I got to know Andrew and Norine personally. I received a burden to be an intercessor for them and their ministry.
Andrew’s Imprisonment
I believe that one reason why Andrew was imprisoned was that Satan was deeply threatened by their empowered ministry of prayer and love for the Turkish people. Of course, that was an unwise tactic as his imprisonment has ignited a worldwide movement of prayer.
After Andrew Brunson was imprisoned in Turkey, the EPC denominational leadership under the Rev. Jeff Jeremiah, the Stated Clerk, launched a sustained effort to have him released. This effort reached to the White House.
Christ Community Church under Richard White’s leadership launched regular prayer meetings and watches that were faithfully sustained until Andrew’s eventual release. Richard White, accompanied by other church members, at their own expense and personal risk, took trips to Turkey to support Norine and to be a presence in the courtroom during the trial.
During this extended ordeal through the Discerning the Times blog posts the Lord mobilized a number of PRMI intercessors to step into the gap in prayer.
We prayed for Richard White as he went on the trips to Turkey. At a strategic turning point, we were called into high-level intercession and spiritual warfare during one of our Dunamis projects to pray for Andrew and Norine and for Turkey.
During this extended prayer battle, the intercessors prayed for the Brunsons’ terrible ordeal and for Jeff Jeremiah’s untiring efforts with the g
Our persistent calling was to pray that Andrew would be sustained by the Lord until it was the time for his release. We also were led to pray that the gates of fortress Islam would be broken down and there would be a surge of the Holy Spirit, opening the doors for the Gospel to go throughout Turkey and into the entire Muslim world. (To see the history of these prayer battles and the guidance the Holy Spirit has given us on this please read the blog post: Following up on prayer for Andrew Brunson.)
The Prayer work is not over
Praise God that Andrew has been released! Andrew and Norine’s witness to the Gospel since they have returned from Turkey has been an extraordinary witness to Jesus Christ. But the work of prayer is not over.
Focussed intercession needs to continue in order that what was gained for the Kingdom of God through so much suffering will not be lost. I urge you to join in prayer for this upcoming opportunity!
Andrew and Norine’s Testimony

Right after Andrew was released, he and his wife Norine came to Christ Community Church (EPC). Richard interviewed Andrew and Norine about their experience. This was an amazing time which was to the glory of God and I believe deepened the working of the Holy Spirit in this congregation.
It was a powerful example of the power of prayer, Norine and Andrew’s perseverance, and the faithfulness of Jesus during times of suffering.
Pray that there will be an outpouring of the Holy Spirit during the presentation at the General Assembly and that this would be a catalytic event for the entire EPC denomination. Pray for the empowerment of the Holy Spirit upon everyone so that they will be effective witnesses to Jesus Christ worldwide including in the Muslim world.
I will pray during this time.
Yes, I will pray for Andrew Brunson, Richard White, and the EPC GA. The gains made at such cost must be expanded and deepened in Turkey and the Muslim world.
Jesus can thereby receive more fruit from his suffering on the cross – many Muslims coming into our heavenly Father’s kingdom and transformation of their culture.
Shalom Brad
Yes, I will join in prayer for a powerful outpouring of the Holy Spirit and a
boldness to speak God’s Word.
A sharp 2 edged Sword is the ultimate weapon against the enemy.

Yes, I will join in prayer that the work of the Brunsons in Turkey will continue to bear much fruit and that the powerful prayer ministry of PRMI will be sustained at a high level of intercession and spiritual warfare. After Pastor Brunson’s release, I felt the Holy Spirit saying to me that Turkey is a strategic country in the Middle East.. That has never left me.
Your Sister in Christ,

I will be in the church during Andrew’s presentation on Wednesday morning. I will indeed intercede for Richard and Andrew while they speak.
Yes, and amen.
Praying for great strength and ability and power as Andrew and Richard deliver their testimonies. Holy Spirit fall on the entire
Assembly!
Linda and I will certainly remember this historic event in the life the EPC. The Baptism with the Holy Spirit fire is needed in this denomination. I pray for His Awesome Power to come upon the GA and that people will be under the power of the Holy Spirit.
I pray that every pastor and elder and the spouses that are present will be anointed with power to truly share the Good News to people all around the world, that we would have another invasion of the Holy Spirit like we had back in the 70s.
Thanks for your prayers for this EPC event. I heard from Richard White and Steve Strickler who were at the EPC GA that the event went really well and that there was a time of prayer afterwards. Then last week I had a short unexpected meeting with Andrew Bronson who was in town, he thanked us for the prayer support.
This work of prayer is strategic for the advancement of the Kingdom of God. Thanks so much for everyone’s prayer work.
