As intercessors we are called to block the fatwa calling for the destruction of all Christian churches on the Arabian Peninsula. On March 12, Sheik Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah, the grand mufti of Saudi Arabia, declared that it is “necessary to destroy all the churches of the region.”
For more reporting on this statement made by the grand mufti and the consequences, I recommend the following:
The significance of this statement is observed as follows by a commentator in the Washington Times.
“This is not a small-time radical imam trying to stir up his followers with fiery hate speech. This was a considered, deliberate and specific ruling from one of the most important leaders in the Muslim world. It does not just create a religious obligation for those over whom the mufti has direct authority; it is also a signal to others in the Muslim world that destroying churches is not only permitted but mandatory.” To read the full article, click on the link. As we approach Easter, it is critically important that we move with the Holy Spirit into intensive intercessory prayer to break the power of this fatwa that has been spoken against Christians. Often times at Easter, Christian churches are attacked in various parts of the Muslim world.
This fatwa will only encourage such attacks. They are part of Satan’s strategic plan to destroy the unique witness of Christians that Jesus Christ has been raised from the dead and that Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life, the only way to the Father.
I believe that these words from the highest authority in Islam fit into a vision I received more than a month ago—a frightening image of a dragon of death, caged in a stone lair, about to be released. The mufti’s words mandating the destruction of churches are intended by Satan to remove more of the stones from the lair so that death and destruction will be unleashed upon Christians as well as Jews in the Middle East and around the world.
What authority do we have as intercessors to engage in high level intercessory prayer?
The Grand Mufti based his fatwa on a canonical hadith, which Muslims, and informed non- Muslims, know is part of Islam’s source of jurisprudence (or usul al-fiqh). That is his authority.
Our authority for standing in the gap as intercessors is both our call from the Lord Jesus as well as our actual standing with Him. Remember the authority of Jesus Himself:
Philippians 2:9-11 NIV “Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
When we are born again, Jesus shares with us His authority and calls us to walk in it.
Ephesians 2:6-7 NIV “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.”
So, as we move into these prayers of command, and as we engage with this powerful human and demonic stronghold, we can do so with the authority of our position in Christ.
Guidance for how to pray against the fatwa:
The Holy Spirit is calling me to pray the following prayers. Please join with me and other intercessors according to Matthew 18:19-20.
In the authority of the mighty Name of Jesus Christ we break the power of this Fatwa spoken by Sheik Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah, the grand mufti of Saudi Arabia, against the Christian Church in the world.
In the Name of Jesus Christ, we confuse and negate the schemes of Satan to use these words for his evil purposes, namely, to destroy the Church of Jesus Christ.
In the name of Jesus, the Lord of all Creation, and by the authority given to us by Him in the power of the Holy Spirit, we speak these words of Jesus to replace the words of thegrand mufti,
“Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.” Revelation 1:17-18 NIV
In the name of Jesus, we break the mufti’s satanic lie that it is God’s will that there can be no other religion than Islam on the Arabian Peninsula.
Indeed, we declare the historical fact that the Apostle Paul, the Jew from Tarsus, first bore witness to the Lord Jesus there, thus establishing the foundations of the Christian Faith in Arabia centuries before the great deception of Islam arose.
(Galatians 1:15-18)By the power of the One who has all authority in heaven and on earth, Jesus Christ, who gave us the command to “Make disciples of all nations,” we break the strongholds of Satan’s deception that would block the fulfillment of this command in nations under the bondage of Islam.
We pray, Lord, that you will bring Sheik Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah, the grand mufti of Saudi Arabia, persecutor of your Church to saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Please, Lord Jesus, have mercy on his soul, and on the souls of all those over whom he has authority. Speak to him in a vision or through the means of your choosing, as you spoke to Saul, the Jewish persecutor of the Church, on the road to Damascus.
Lord, for the sake of your Church and the advancement of the Gospel of grace and salvation, silence this man whose words are being used by Satan against your Kingdom. Silence him until the day his words become words of witness for Jesus!

Thanks for joining in this great work of intercession.
Like Rees Howes, called to bind Hitler during the days of the battle of Dunkirk, our role in this is critical to God’s work of breaking the power of evil, and advancing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
