Dear Discerning the Times Reader,
When you view the world through human eyes everything seems daunting and dangerous. There are war clouds, like thunderheads, billowing up before us – as a gathering storm about to release a tsunami of evil upon the world.
Ponder the heightened tensions with North Korea and the radical leftist anarchy on the streets of Hamburg during the G–20 Summit. Then add to this the global Jihad launched by Radial Islam seeking to exterminate the Jewish people and all who do not submit to the tyranny of Sharia law.
Seen through human eyes, all this looks formidable and impossible. But through the eyes of faith, we see great waves of the Holy Spirit advancing the Kingdom of God, doing what no political movement, government or military can accomplish, which is changing the human heart from hatred to love and from following the ways of death to seeking life in Jesus Christ.
The way of igniting, sustaining and extending these waves of the Holy Spirit is through the work of extraordinary prayer. It is this kind of prayer, which precedes every great movement of the Holy Spirit, and comes from the same Holy Spirit. Not us! However, our role is to, in obedience to Christ, be creating the venues in which the Holy Spirit can work.
Look at it like this – the “venue” which prepared for the first great outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost was the disciples gathered in Jerusalem being of one heart and mind and in constant prayer, fellowship, and worship together. Acts 1:14
We have tended to spiritualize this time of spending many days of being together in prayer. But consider for a moment. What did they eat? Who cooked the meals? Who provided for their needs? How were the children taken care of, families fed and taken care of? Who were the administrators who took care of all these details so that they could be free to do the work of prayer?
PRMI is taking seriously the call from Jesus to Mobilize, Equip and Deploy an Army of Intercessors. But we are facing these very real logistical questions of providing for this work. It may come as a surprise, but it costs money to provide the context or venue for the Holy Spirit to work.
We have been praying for God to raise up intercessors, but also for the financial resources. So far, the intercessors are stepping up! But not the financial resources.
So, I am asking you to join in this most urgent work of providing the venue for the Holy Spirit’s work of prayer by making a $35 online financial gift to our general fund.
This will provide for the basic support needs that enable all this critical work to go forward. We are convinced that prayer is God’s way of overcoming the evil growing in the world with the Kingdom of God.
Thanks so much for your gifts and support! They make a huge difference!
In Christ,
Brad
