Praise our loving God! He is opening up our vision and understanding.

And He is calling us to multiple fronts in our intercessory prayer work.

The discernment team and I are working through a number of discernment issues. This process of discernment takes considerable care and time to get right.

Currently we are preparing Discerning The Times updates and leading intercessory prayer cohorts on several fronts.

I will send out reports for guidance in prayer as soon as we are ready.

Though this is really exciting, we are facing strong head winds in spiritual warfare.

So in the meantime please cover us in prayer.

Letting the Holy Spirit pray through us (Romans 8:26-27) during complex and confusing assaults in the world.

There seems to be a restless stirring of evil in the world. Everywhere you look seemingly insurmountable problems press in upon us.

Steve Strickler gives a good summary,

“Israel’s retaliation against Hamas for ongoing missile attacks has meant great Palestinian civilian losses in Gaza.   How can Israel respond in kind when Hamas uses civilians as human shields? An impossible situation for Israel! What is going on in Syria, in Egypt and in Ukraine? Just because it is hard to find reports doesn’t mean those conflicts are solved. And, Christians world-wide continue to be persecuted and martyred because they call on the name of Jesus!”

It is not just in the Middle East that Christians are coming under attack, but in China as well as in Africa.   There are alarming reports of increased government oppression in areas where there had been reports of growing freedom of religion in China. And what is usually not reported in the press is that in many places most of the conflict is coming from Muslims attacking Christians. There is the takeover of the Crimea by Russia, the missile bringing down the Malaysian jet raining innocent bodies over a contested patch of the Ukraine. Some questions I have been getting lately:

• Is there a Jezebel spirit working in the church choir?

• Why do our efforts at reconciliation never seem to work?

• Is there a demonic stronghold in our community that is keeping our church from growing?

• Are our problems caused by evil spirits or is this just human sinfulness?

• Our congregation just left the PC (USA). Finally we are free from that oppression, but now all hell has broken lose and we cannot seem to stay focused on Christ’s mission. What is happening?

Praying for a New Wave of the Holy Spirit Bringing Revival in the Northeast

Revival

There seems to be the beginning of a new wave of the Holy Spirit in the Northeast of the United States. This is the area that led the way in past revivals but in recent years has been much of the source of movements leading the church away from her biblical roots.  But now there are signs pointing to a new stream of the Holy Spirit at work, that I believe we are called to join in praying will become a river of revival and transformation.

Over the years PRMI people such as the late Tom Manetsch prayed for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in this area. His wife, Edna, and he did prayer walks on the campus of Harvard University and other citadels of liberal progressivism in the Northeast.  Steve Thayer, past PRMI Board President and the pastor of a Presbyterian congregation situated not far from the site of Jonathan Edwards’ revival ministry, has prayed for a new outpouring of the Holy Spirit.  No doubt there are thousands of others whom the Lord has called to join in this great symphony of prayer for revival.

There are signs of our Father moving to answer this past work of prayer with a new wave of the Holy Spirit.  One of the catalysts that may be sparking this revival fire in the Northeast is our event called Renewing the Legacy of R.A. Torrey at the Montrose Bible Conference in PA . Another spark may be the Ignite at Brighton Presbyterian Church in Rochester, NY to take place sometime in October.  I think this is a call to intercessory prayer in cooperation with the Holy Spirit.
